Danny Nguyen ‘24, a dual marketing and communications major from San Antonio, Texas, is the first in his family to attend college and the first in his family to graduate from high school. He is also serving as the current student body president. Danny credits the scholarships he is receiving for his ability to attend Trinity University as a “first-generation” student.

“The contributions of so many have allowed me to come to and thrive at Trinity,” Danny says.

Hope Paschall, a first-year student from North Richland Hills, Texas, is also attending Trinity with the support of scholarships.

“Trinity’s generosity in recognizing student accomplishments through scholarships, as well as the university's commitment to providing for student needs is unmatched,” Hope says.

“Because students, including myself, aren't having to worry as much about the financial strain their education causes on themselves and their families, they are able to better focus on their studies and explore their interests, make connections and live life as college students,” she adds.

Hope and Danny are among the more than 90 percent of Trinity students who receive financial assistance. Moreover, for the 2021-2022 academic year, 52 percent of students graduated debt-free. This financial support provided by alumni, parents, faculty, staff, friends and others enables students like Hope and Danny to fulfill their dreams of attending and graduating from Trinity.

“The personal connections I made on campus from my admissions counselor to my professors were what made the difference,” Hope says. “Those connections have served me as well in regard to opportunities on campus. Trinity as a whole truly caters to individual student needs and growth, an important aspect for me as I made my college decision.”

Although Hope hasn’t declared a major yet, her career goals focus on the publishing industry, “honed through my work with Trinity’s Office of Strategic Communication and Marketing as well as my experiences with TU Press.”

In choosing to attend Trinity, Danny said that “what was important for me was a sense of belonging and feeling like I could belong here for the next four years.” When he graduates, he plans to be a marketing professional in San Antonio.
